Path to Newlands Farm seen from the Saxon Shore Way
The Saxon Shore Way follows Kent's ancient coastline, which in many places is now miles inland. The Saxon Shore Way is named after the line of historic fortifications that defended the Kent coast at the end of the Roman era. It is 160 miles long and runs from Gravesend to Hastings.

Here just beyond Decoy Hill Road, it turns sharp right on its way to Fenn Street and then on to the south side of the Hoo Peninsula near Hoo St Werburgh. The path ahead continues to Newlands Farm and Hoo St Mary.
