St. Catherine of Siena's church, Cocking, West Sussex
For 900 years this tiny village church survived without dedication to any saint. As recently as 2007 this was rectified by the congregation agreeing to name the church after a mysterious 14th century saint that curiously had her name inscribed in Latin (interpretation open to debate) on one of the three bells in the 14th century tower. These bells were cast in 1420,1448 at Wokingham, and 1616 at Chichester. It is the 1448 bell that bears Catherine's name.
