'Dar Mlodziezy' approaching Sea Reach
'Dar Mlodziezy' approaching Sea Reach
Following the Parade of Sail at the close of the Greenwich Tall Ships Regatta, Dar Mlodziezy led the departing fleet downriver. Here she is, motoring down the Lower Hope and heading into Sea Reach. The huge Polish sail-training ship was bound for her home port, Gdynia.

Her name means 'The Gift of Youth', echoing the name of her predecessor, 'Dar Pomorza' ('The Gift of Pomerania'), a ship dear to the hearts of Polish people of my father's - wartime - generation. The newer ship, being a product of the Soviet era, is, of course, bigger . . .

Photo taken at a range of about two kilometres.
