This is the weir referred to in SK0598 : Torside reservoir overflowing and SK0598 : Torside Reservoir overflow channel.
Basically, when the water level in the reservoir reaches the top of the line of dressed stones across the shot, it spills over and runs down a channel, along with water from this weir, into the Rhodeswood Reservoir below.
