St Peter & St Paul, Salle: north transept
The story is that this large window was blocked up in 1751 by Edward Hase who then built a memorial to his late wife inside it, against the wishes of the Rector, who then failed to get a court order to restore it. This case led to the introduction of the faculty system which we still have in the Church of England to this day.
St Peter and St Paul, Salle, Norfolk
The church is grade 1 listed (list entry number 1306145) and regarded as "a magnificent example of a 15th century East Anglian wool church". Like many of its kind, it is far bigger than the population of the village it served, built to reflect the wealth of local landowners than meet a real need; nowadays the parish population is only around 50.
