SK3436 : 44 Friar Gate, Derby

taken 12 years ago, near to Derby, England

44 Friar Gate, Derby
44 Friar Gate, Derby
Its arcaded first floor and Venetian windows make for a very striking facade, not made from a standard Georgian mould. Fine doorcase too (SK3436 : Detail of 44 Friar Gate, Derby). The architect may have been illustrious local man Joseph Pickford. Grade II* listed.
Now offices.
Friar Gate has fine sequences of Georgian houses, almost continuous on the north side of the street, bittier on the south side.
