Sadly the horse-chestnut tree that has stood on Pembury Village Green for over 150 years, had to be felled due to decay. A commissioned health report highlighted a number of areas of damage and disease which had made the crown of the tree very unsafe. The tree was felled on the 27th September 2012, once felled it could be seen how extensive the decay was, and what must have been a very difficult decision to make, was justified. A semi mature Oak tree will be planted to replace the horse-chestnut in 2013.
