Western end of English Bridge, Shrewsbury
Western end of English Bridge, Shrewsbury
Viewed from the Wyle Cop side. The road bridge extends for 110 metres across the River Severn.
A complete rebuild of its 18th century predecessor, the bridge opened in 1927. Every sound stone in the old bridge was reused in the rebuild.
The red caution notice states that the footpath is not treated in icy conditions.
