Art on the roundabout
Final year Art students at the Bourne Academy (formerly the Robert Manning) produced these pieces of art, which have been displayed on the roundabout at the end of the Bourne Bypass.

There was some consternation when one of them went missing, and it was thought that metal thieves were responsible, but it turned out to be old fashioned vandalism. It had been thrown in a ditch. See LinkExternal link
The Robert Manning school :: TF1020
Formerly the Robert Manning school, this was the Secondary Modern built to compliment Bourne Grammar. It became The Robert Manning Technology College, and is now Bourne Academy

Robert Manning, or Robert de Brunne, 1264-1340 was a medieval monk of the Gilbertine order who wrote in Vernacular English, among the first to record our language. It is rather a shame that the school is no longer named after him.

The elaborate knot used as the school's emblem is the Wake's Knot, the heraldic device which also appears on the town's crest, and is associated with the vigil kept at the Abbey by Hereward before deciding to fight the Normans. Allegedly. In the version used by the school when it was a technology college, the ends were tied incorrectly and it would not have worked. The monochrome version produced for the new Academy seems to have been corrected.
