The SS Sir Walter Scott berthed at Loch Katrine
The 19th. century steamboat has been plying its trade on the beautiful loch Katrine for well over a century. Built by William Denny of Dumbarton, the ship provides pleasure cruises around the loch and a summertime ferry service to and from Stronachlacher. It originally arrived from the shipyard in bits, all numbered, and assembled at Stronaachlachar. Interestingly, the great writer, to whom the ship is named in honour, based his works, 'Lady of the Lake' and 'Rob Roy' on Loch Katrine.
