A train enters Markbeech Tunnel
The London, Brighton & South Coast Railway opened the railway between Hurst Green and Eridge on 2nd January 1888. This is now on the Uckfield to Oxted line and is one of the few non-electrified railways in South East England.

A train is about to enter Markbeech Tunnel having just left Cowden station and is heading for Oxted, East Croydon and London Bridge. This view is from a footpath which passes over the tunnel entrance.
