Stream gates in wall alongside path
Stream gates in wall alongside path
Stream gates, (that may not be the correct name), are placed across streams where a wall or fence crosses it to prevent livestock using the gap that there would otherwise be, to cross the barrier. To see a stream gate in a wall such as the one here alongside a path is unusual and to see four together must be exceptional. Although no water was flowing when the image was recorded, presumably a stream does run across the path on occasions and the gates are there for such times.
