Ashford Carbonell - Little Hereford road - Catherine of Aragon was here?
This, the Shropshire- Herefordshire border is now the end of the old road to Worcester and beyond from Ludlow. Although there is no hard evidence, it is probable that Prince Arthur Tudor's funeral cortege passed this way travelling to the burial in Worcester Cathedral.
The road fell into disuse, being replaced by routes via Tinkers Hill or Woofferton, and then selfish landowners pounced closing it all together. Another path between Little Hereford and Ashford Carbonel has been completely lost. It remains a footpath on the Little Hereford side, but is still a road, although unsurfaced on the Ashford Carbonel side. Don't drive down here though, you cannot turn.

I still hope that one day the road will be at least reopened for bikes, providing a safe exit from the village towards Tenbury. I used the road a lot as a transport resource in the 1970s and 1980s. It is a very useful shortcut, as well as a route to the pub.
