SP2965 : Riverside Walk rear of Mercia Way, Warwick

Riverside Walk rear of Mercia Way, Warwick
The River Avon is on the right. The walk is halfway up a steep-sided artificial floodbank which is most likely to have been constructed at the same time as houses on the Emscote Gardens estate 1964-5. There were market gardens or allotments on the site previously. The ivy-clad poplars on the right have all fallen in the course of 2014, both across the path and into the river, their grip on the soil weakened by months of high river levels.
