TQ1972 : Silver birches, Pen Pond Plantation

taken 4 years ago, near to Ham, Richmond Upon Thames, Great Britain

Silver birches, Pen Pond Plantation
Silver birches, Pen Pond Plantation
Seen across the Upper Pen Pond.

The appearance of a number of the Park's woods has changed quite drastically in the last few years, as a consequence of the removal of the Rhododendron ponticum understorey. The most dramatically affected is probably Sidmouth Wood, but the changes are particularly conspicuous here, in Pen Pond Plantation.

Richmond Park is a National Nature Reserve.
