Sett-makers' huts and shelter
Very dilapidated sett-makers' huts are almost engulfed by a modern bund at the edge of the new quarry workings. It is assumed that these are very early construction since they are entirely built in stone apart from a flat, concrete roof. The curiously squat-shaped building just beyond the huts is assumed to be a shelter from blasting operations, but it does have a chimney so may have been used as a mess-room. In the background is a winding drum house for the incline descending directly to the lowest level.
