SO6204 : Norchard Low Level platform

Norchard Low Level platform
Norchard Low Level platform
This is the very image of a small country station somewhere on the GWR system in the 1930s. But appearances can be deceptive, as up until the mid 1960s there were freight sidings for the nearby mine and power station, which was on the site of the station car park. The Dean Forest Railway have done a fantastic job of creating a wayside station from nothing; it's a great place to wander around for half an hour or so. The delayed 11.09 service to Lydney has just arrived at the High Level platform, situated on the main running lines to the right of the shot.
