Hynish: postbox № PA77 171
This postbox stands outside the former Skerryvore signalling station and is of a modern (2012) design which is becoming gradually more commonplace. It is made of pressed steel rather than the traditional cast iron, and has a silver plate attached with the monarch's cipher.

Elizabeth II boxes in Scotland traditionally have just a crown, without the E II R lettering which is seen in the rest of the UK. The reason is that Elizabeth II was the first, not second, Elizabeth to reign over Scotland, Elizabeth I having pre-dated the Union. Perhaps that is why this 'English style' plate has been damaged, although the other five similar boxes on the island are still intact.
