Kilve Pill
Kilve Pill
"Small harbour on the coast ... was in existence by 1558 when Kilve Pill, a "creek for small boats" was condemned as dangerous by the port commissioners" LinkExternal link . "Shown as being water filled on OS 25" maps with stone wharves remaining" - this refers to an 1887 map. This view from the beach suggests that, apart from the area in the foreground, where the brook down the valley still flows, the harbour is now marshland. However, someone has built a tiny dam, perhaps in the hope of restoring the site to its former glory.
