Penninghame House
Penninghame House
View from the west. The original Victorian building was commissioned by a wealthy cotton merchant and added to over subsequent years. It became an open prison between 1952 and 2000, when the house returned to private hands. Structures from its days as a prison are still to be seen in the grounds. Recently, the estate has played host to Boot Camps for young people.
