Hawthorn
Hawthorn
One of the Hawthorn bushes along the drift. There are many highly variable individuals in the Hawthorn family, and they all look slightly different.

This year the hawthorns are fruiting prolifically, possibly because of a wet spring and a warm dry summer. The more superstitious are likely to say that we can expect a harsh winter, and that nature is preparing to feed the birds. We shall see.
