The tomb of Ernest Gimson, Sapperton
The tomb of Ernest Gimson, Sapperton
The resting place of one of the leading lights of the Arts and Crafts movement, who moved to Sapperton in 1902 along with colleagues Ernest and Sidney Barnsley, who lie nearby. Trained as architects, they turned to furniture design and manufacture with a desire to revitalise traditional methods and craftsmanship. They are to Gloucestershire and the world what Charles Rennie Mackintosh is to Glasgow.
