'The Duke of Windsor'
'The Duke of Windsor'
This handsome exhibit is a Burrell agricultural engine - a general purpose version. It was built in 1894, demonstrated at the Taunton show a year later and was purchased by the Mitchells, a threshing company of Merriot, Somerset. It was later bought by T.C. Trott and R. Willcox of Litton Cheney, Dorset in 1960. Producing some 6 N.H.P., the Duke made an appearance in the film 'Far from a madding crowd'. The present owner took possession in 1984 and carried out extensive repairs and maintenance.
