Herne Bay clock tower was built in 1837 and was the first purpose-built clock tower of its type in the world LinkExternal link There was a board, at the base of the tower, giving the information that, following a successful bid for Heritage Lottery funding by Canterbury City Council, it was hoped that the restorationís completion would be by October 2014.
