TQ5498 : St Thomas the Apostle, Navestock (2)

taken 3 years ago, near to Navestock Heath, Essex, Great Britain

St Thomas the Apostle, Navestock (2)
St Thomas the Apostle, Navestock (2)
The original building was C11/C12 but the structure was largely rebuilt in C13. Repairs were carried out in 1940 after a land mine landed in the church yard. The tower was formerly thought to C15 but carbon dating makes C13 construction more likely.

There is a sundial in the depression in the church yard in the foreground.
