Diversionary tactics
Diversionary tactics
The sluice gate partially obstructs the artificial channel which once diverted larger quantities of water from the headwaters of both the Nant Morlais and its main eastern tributary towards the former Pitwellt Pond reservoir. The larger part of the flow is now seen here to continue off to the southwest down a natural gorge cut to increasing depth into the otherwise gently undulating moorland.
