SD2088 : Early autumn colours in the lower Duddon Valley

taken 3 years ago, near to Duddon Bridge, Cumbria, Great Britain

Early autumn colours in the lower Duddon Valley
Early autumn colours in the lower Duddon Valley
The high ground between the lower reaches of the Duddon and the Lickle provides a good view of the fells and woodland to the north. The dying bracken has largely turned orange and autumnal colours are well advanced in the trees. Across the dale is the rarely-ascended Penn (244m) backed by Whitfell (573m, left) with Hesk Fell (477m) and The Pike (370m) further right.
