Twyers Lane, Hedon, Yorkshire
Twyers Lane, Hedon, Yorkshire
The first addition to the semi-natural dykes was probably the digging of the ditch which runs along the northern edge of the town. This ditch left Twyers Lane embanked between it and the Reedmere dyke running parallel thereto to the north. The result was the formation of a substantial barrier along the northern fringe of the town. For further information, see: 'The Medieval Town of Hedon: Excavations 1975-1976' by Colin Hayfield & Terry Slater, 1984, p.10.

Illustrated is Twyers Lane and the internal ditch, looking east.
