On Crammery Hill 7
View towards Stronbae Hill. This looks to be a fairly benign terrain - especially after many weeks of dry weather - but appearances are deceptive: it mostly comprises dried-out bog which, in normal Scottish weather, would be impassable on foot. Walking over it is both tiring and hazardous: the top is two-foot-deep tussock grass and below that is a sometimes fragile crust which frequently gives way, depositing the walker another six to twelve inches deeper.
