Bateman's Water Turbine
Bateman's Water Turbine
Following the decommissioning of the mill in 1903 the mill wheel, which filled this space, was removed and the water turbine installed. This powered a DC generator in the building on the right which provided a 110V 15 Amp supply for the lighting in the house. The supply charged a massive, (half ton), battery pack which provided sufficient power for ten 60 Watt bulbs for 4 hours. A small mill wheel has now been installed to operate the mill. Refer to picture TQ6723 : Bateman's Mill Gearing for a view of the mill gearing.
