The drive from the water wheel is transmitted via the gears in the room below to rotate the two millstones which grind the corn into flour. The corn is added via the hopper at the top and the flour expelled from the millstones via the grooves. Refer to picture TQ6723 : Lawn at Bateman's for a view of Bateman's lawn.
