Mains of Cairn
Mains of Cairn
Although all the later maps mark this as Mains of Quirn, the first edition six-inch Ordnance Survey map labels it Mains of Cairn. So was this a misunderstanding by the first cartographers, later corrected, or is the curious name Quirn a variant of the more common Cairn?
