Tree clinging on to a steep slope at Rooks Hill
The Greensand Way at Rooks Hill follows a ledge with a steep rise above and a steep drop below. This is actually looking down at an angle of about 45 degrees. The greensand all around this tree root has mostly been washed away but enough is left to just keep it in place. Many of the surrounding trees, though, were flattened in the Great Storm of October 1987 and one wonders if this tree would survive another storm.
