I'd better not attempt to identify this insect - other than to say I'd guess at genus Sympetrum. From the colouring I'd suspect that it's a 'teneral' - newly emerged.

Something that pleased me about the photo was that you can see the shadows cast by the pterostigmata - the little dark patches on the leading-edge of each wing, near the tip.

Richmond Park is a National Nature Reserve.

Afterthought: if I'm right in saying this is a Sympetrum species, then the odds are it's S. striolatum. I realise now that this is not the first time I've followed that line of reasoning: TQ5479 : Common Darter dragonfly, Sympetrum striolatum, Rainham Marshes
