Blansby Park Farm
Blansby Park Farm
A grade 2 listed farmhouse and barns dating from around 1800. This area, known as Blansby Park, has an interesting history. In early medieval times it appears to have been a barley growing area with at least one village settlement, but from around 1300 to near the end of the 17thC it appears to have had a dual role for at least some of this long period, being both a horse stud farm and a deer park belonging to the Duchy of Lancaster. There is evidence of this on the map and on the ground. The OS map shows a W-E earthwork passing through Crown Wood at the north side of the park. The irregular line of field boundaries to the east of Oak Tree Farm and Yatts defines the western boundary, whilst a part hidden bank at SE811859 helps to define a southern edge of the park.
