Inside the Aviemore engine shed
This locomotive shed was built in 1898, for the Highland Railway's main lines to Perth, Forres and Inverness. It is a Category B listed building: LinkExternal link

The shed is now the Strathspey Railway's main workshop, used for repairs and overhauls of a variety of heritage steam and diesel locomotives.

In this photo, to the left is Caledonian Railway 0-6-0 No 828, built in 1899. To the right is LMS Black Five 4-6-0 No 5025. It is partway through a complete overhaul, with much of it being rebuilt or replaced. Behind that is a Class 26 diesel locomotive.
