Remains of the Roman fort at Reculver
The Roman fort at Reculver, then called Regulbium, guarded the northern entrance of the Wantsum Channel. A large part of the fort has vanished into the sea because of coastal erosion. The bonding layers of tile in the wall are typical of Roman masonry.
