Back of the Shops
Back of the Shops
The premises of J.H.Wand and the Former Cinema in North Street back onto Meadowgate. The lower brick building in the middleground is the warehouse of Town and County electrical, part of the Wand family's industrial and electrical businesses (TF0920 : Shops on North Street). It dates from the 1970s.

Beyond that the taller brick box (with a galvanised box vent) is the former auditorium of the Tudor Cinema (TF0920 : Former cinema) which has been a Chinese restaurant for the last 20 years. This was opened on 2nd December 1929. It was designed by Nottingham based architect Alfred J. Thraves.

The small house in the foreground is unrelated to these businesses, standing in its own plot.
