Remnants of quarry face to east of Billinge Hill
Flaggy sandstone was quarried here by J. Pickavance Ltd during the 1970's and 1980's. The quarry was then given over to landfill for waste from the Merseyside area including some low level radioactive waste from hospital use. Gas is now being extracted from the decomposition of the waste and the grassland/scrub land habitat developed.
