Old Kiln and New Houses
Old Kiln and New Houses
This area was the site of a large cement works. See this industrial view SP7500 : Chinnor Cement Works from 1986 to see what it used to be like.
Pre-dating all that, built in 1908 and operative until 1938, this old kiln would have been in the middle of the industrial area but somehow managed to survive.
All the rest of this big site has been cleared and a new small village built on the land, but the kiln is now a listed structure LinkExternal link and sits in its enclosure in the middle of all the brand new houses while someone decides what best to do about it.
