"The Daniels" are Stamford AFC, a football team formed in 1894 when two clubs, Stamford Town and Rutland Ironworks, amalgamated. They have played all their games since on Hanson's Field adjacent to the Kettering Road, but the landowners want to sell this for housing so a new ground has been built.

I was fortunate enough to meet Mr Paul Pepper, the commercial manager, who let me in to take some photographs of the brand new facility. He was very proud of the way the whole facility is 'accessible' in the modern jargon.

The site at Borderville (the name of a farm on the Rutland Lincolnshire border) is a shared facility with Stamford College who will be running a sports teaching institute here.

"The Daniels" is a nickname referring to Daniel Lambert, a famous character from Stamford History. It has been a nickname for Stamfordians (footballers or not) for some time now.
