This is one of several well-kept grouse butts on an active grouse moor. This managed moorland is burned in strips giving an interesting patterning on aerial photographs as seen in the link below

Burning gets rid of woody stems and allows young shoots to grow which is more palatable to grouse, sheep and other wildlife.
