The Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Aldingbourne, West Sussex
Dating from the twelfth century this church in the tiny hamlet of Aldingbourne serves a much larger part of the surrounding area. Originally there would have been far more houses surrounding the church, but at the time of the Black Death in 1539, people moved away to an area deemed to be healthier. The sturdy square tower carries a peal of five bells.
