Corton Denham: waterwheel at Whitcombe Farm
Corton Denham: waterwheel at Whitcombe Farm
An overshot or high breastshot waterwheel of 7.4m diameter, the sole survivor of machinery from a mill barn, now converted to private housing. Last used in 1965 and thought to be installed by the owners, the Portman estate, in the 19th century. The wheel was reputedly cast in Westbury, Wiltshire. Looking west-north-west
