The 2007 burning wicker man, Butser Ancient Farm

The experimental archaeology centre has a special event at the beginning of May each year, which finishes with the burning of a giant wicker man - the link with the past is via the writings of a Roman historian who said that the British burnt such things. The event draws over a thousand visitors to the centre and the funds help to keep the centre running.
