Spindlestone Mill
Spindlestone Mill
An early C18th four storey, stone-built corn mill, with the remains of a lucomb (an extension used to hoist the sacks of corn up to the top of the building to start on their journey of process through the mill to emerge at the bottom as flour), access doors to each floor in one gable end, and an interior waterwheel powered from a mill race led from a dam (now breached) further up-stream.

The bridge over Waren Burn is in the foreground.

The four apartments in Spindlestone Mill are let for holiday accommodation and can cater for up to 26 people. The Wheel Rooms has a huge dining facility to accommodate everyone and sleeps 9/10 in 5 bedrooms with 5 bathrooms. The Gearings and The Grainrooms on the 1st and 2nd floor sleep 6 in 3 bedrooms each with 3 bathrooms each, and the spacious Loft sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms.

Millkeepers Cottage to the left provides accommodation for another 10.
