SU2602 : Holm Hill

taken 19 years ago, 3 km from Brockenhurst, Hampshire, England

Holm Hill
Holm Hill
Looking towards Holm Hill from SU269022. Typical of New Forest heathland, the path has suffered from significant erosion by walkers, riders and mountain bikers and is now up to 3 metres wide in places. However, it does show just how thin the soil is, and helps to explain why the predominant vegetation is heather, with gorse and bracken.
