Claymills Victorian Pumping Station
Claymills Victorian Pumping Station
The agitator engine. This small horizontal single cylinder slide valve engine drove paddles in the sewage culvert to mix in the slaked lime that was added to treat it. When the volunteers got on site in 1993 it was a solid block of rust but it has been coaxed back to health and is a very free runner. It is in a 'lean-to' on the end of the workshop block that was built in 1900.
