NS3778 : Field near Kipperoch Farm

taken 9 years ago, near to Renton, West Dunbartonshire, Scotland

Although the field is its focus, the picture was also intended to convey the overall view to be had from the southern extremity of Carman Muir.

In the background, right of centre, Dumbarton Rock – Link – stands on the near shore of the Clyde; to its left is a red brick tower, the NS3975 : Remains of Ballantine's Distillery. To the right of the Rock are three high flats: NS3975 : The high flats at West Bridgend.

These details are best seen at larger image sizes. Likewise with the tower of NS3877 : Dalmoak House, which is considerably nearer than, and to the left of, the red brick tower of Ballantine's Distillery.

A little left of centre, the Clyde is hidden from view by NS4274 : Dumbuck Quarry. With a few exceptions among the nearest buildings (such as Dalmoak House, already mentioned), all of the housing visible on the near side of the Clyde is in the town of Dumbarton.
