Welcome to Welshpool railway station
Welcome to Welshpool railway station
In an arrogant piece of planning, the station at Welshpool was moved in the early 1990s to allow for the construction of the A483 Welshpool bypass. The road was construction along the original railway alignment and the line moved. The road opened in July 1993. The listed railway station building has survived but is now given over to retail. Instead, rail passengers now have to negotiate a long ramped footbridge over the bypass and railway line to an island platform. There are no facilities other than a small shelter.
